Functional skills Exam subjects:

English, Maths and ICT

Target Group:

Suitable for learners of all ages, aimed at those who may not have a GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths. The Level 2 qualification is an equivalent to a grade C for GCSE. Learners can use this to gain entry into University.

Exam Information:

Functional Skills are qualifications in English, Mathematics and ICT that equip learners with the practical skills needed to live, learn and work successfully. The qualifications are offered from Entry 1 to Level 2. Suitable for learners of all ages, they're also a mandatory part of all Apprenticeship frameworks in England.

Exam Content:

Functional Skills English Level 2
Main components:
• Reading
• Writing
• Speaking and Listening – learners must complete a presentation and discussion.

All three components above must be completed and achieved in order to gain a full qualification.

Functional Skills Mathematics Level 2
Main components:
• Whole Numbers
• Percentages, Decimals, Fractions
• Ratio
• Area, Perimeter, Volume
• Shapes, Space and Measures
• Averages – Mean, Median and Range
• Probability

Functional Skills ICT Level 2
Main components:
• Using ICT
• Finding and selecting information
• Developing, presenting and communicating information
